Why Travel for Umrah as a Group

Travelling for Umrah as a group changes the whole experience. You perform tawaf alongside people you know, share iftars and long talks after Isha, and come home with memories you share with your community. It also changes the cost: rooms, coaches and ziyarat split between more people, so Umrah group packages usually work out cheaper per person than travelling alone.

Our group packages start from £560 per person for 7 days in a 3 star hotel, including flights, visas, hotels and coach transfers.

The final price depends on your group size, your travel dates and how rooms are shared. Most groups share quad or triple rooms, which keeps the cost down. Larger groups can often be offered better rates, so the earlier you give us your numbers, the more we can do.

Ladies’ Umrah Groups: Umrah Groups for Women

Saudi Arabia no longer requires women to travel with a mahram to perform Umrah, and many sisters now travel together in a female Umrah group. If that is your plan, we make sure women share rooms only with other women and that your hotel, transfers and itinerary suit a sisters’ group.

Scholars hold different views on women travelling without a mahram, so many sisters ask their local imam before booking. Whatever your group decides, we will plan the trip around it.

What a Group Umrah Trip Looks Like

Every group is different, but most of our 10-day group trips follow a similar shape:

• Arrival in Makkah: the group travels together from Jeddah by coach, checks in, rests and then performs Umrah together with the group leader.
• Days in Makkah: daily prayers in Masjid al-Haram, optional group tawaf after Fajr, and a coach ziyarat to Jabal al-Nour, Jabal Thawr, Arafat, Muzdalifah and Mina.
• Transfer to Madinah: by coach or Haramain train, with luggage handled for the whole group.
• Days in Madinah: prayers in Masjid an-Nabawi, a group Rawdah slot booked on Nusuk, and ziyarat to Masjid Quba, Uhud and the Seven Mosques area.
• Free time: most groups leave afternoons free so people can rest, shop or worship at their own pace.

Choosing Hotels for a Group

Groups move at the pace of their slowest member, so hotel distance matters even more. Our 3 star group hotels, such as Areej Al Falah in Makkah, are around 800 metres from the Haram. On 4 star group packages, hotels like Saja Al Madinah sit about 250 metres from Masjid an-Nabawi. For groups with elderly members, our 5 star options put you much closer, with Pullman ZamZam around 100 metres from Masjid al-Haram.

If your group has mixed budgets, we can split it: some members in a 5 star hotel near the gates, others in a 3 star hotel a short walk away, on the same flights and the same coach.

Planning a Masjid Umrah Trip

If you are organising a trip for your masjid, a few things make life easier:

• Fix the dates early. Christmas, Ramadan and school holidays sell out months ahead.
• Set a booking deadline. Flights for a large group are held for a limited time.
• Name a deputy. Someone to help the group leader with headcounts and meeting points.
• Plan the rites together. Many groups perform their first Umrah together on arrival, then split for personal worship.
• Agree a timetable for Madinah. Rawdah visits now need a Nusuk booking, so plan them as a group.

Best Times for Group Umrah from the UK

Most groups travel in December and over the Christmas holidays, in Ramadan, or in the summer. For this season, remember that Umrah closes for Hajj 2027 soon after Ramadan: the last day to enter Saudi Arabia for Umrah is 23 March 2027.
